The Fort McHenry Library operates the park's research, reference, and consulting services to other national parks, archival institutions, and individuals. The collections include archival copies of original letters, maps, and other primary source materials relating to people, events, and the material culture of the parks historic themes:
- Revolutionary War, 1775-1783
- War of 1812, 1812-1815
- American Civil War, 1861-1865
- Rodman Cannon, 1861-1904
- U.S. General Hospital No. 2, 1919-1923
- U.S. Coast Guard Training Center, 1942-1945
- The Star-Spangled Banner, 1814-2012
The Fort McHenry Library is not open to the public. Researchers may send an inquiry to the park and a response will be returned within five business days.
